Fantastic guide who made the Vatican come alive
We had a wonderful experience on this tour, and our guide, Max, was a big reason why. He was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and kept the 3.5-hour tour engaging from start to finish. The Vatican Museums are massive, hot, and incredibly crowded, but Max did an excellent job navigating us through the crowds while making sure no one got left behind. We joked several times that we were going to get in trouble if we stopped too long to take photos because he kept us moving at a good pace, which was honestly necessary given how busy it was. One thing I especially appreciated was how he tried to personalize the experience. Another couple on our tour had visited another part of Italy before coming to Vatican City, and when we came across a map inside one of the museums, Max pointed out where they had been. It was a small gesture, but it showed that he genuinely wanted to connect with everyone in the group. He was also happy to take photos for us throughout the tour and even showed us a fun trick for using the vertical panorama feature on our phones to capture the incredible height of St. Peter’s Basilica. It was something we had never seen before and made for some really unique photos. The tour was extensive without feeling overwhelming. I know LivTours offers longer Vatican tours, but with the heat and crowds, I thought 3.5 hours was the perfect amount of time. We left feeling like we had seen the highlights, learned a great deal, and still had enough energy to enjoy the rest of our day. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, entertaining guide who can expertly navigate the Vatican crowds while making the experience enjoyable, I would absolutely recommend this tour.
