Still Very Crowded
My three star rating has nothing to do with the guide; she was very knowledgeable and offered a lot of interesting information. I feel like the way this tour is explained in the description, as First Entry, Early Morning, Semi-Private, is misleading; while I understood I wasn't going to be in the Vatican alone with 6 people, requiring people to arrive prior to 7:30 gives the impression that the doors would be open for groups booking these small group tours to enter the Vatican at 7:30 prior to when the doors open at 8:00 am for everyone. Some of the descriptors even mention getting into the Sistine Chapel and other rooms before the crowds. This was not the case at all. The tour began at 7:30 because we walked across the street with our group to get in line for when the doors opened at 8:00 am. Unfortunately, I had two panic attacks during the tour due to the crowds, feeling trapped with no way out, and at one point even became separated from my group in the Sistine Chapel because I just could not stay in there due to the sheer number of people and ended up going the wrong way. While I understand that will not happen to everyone, my claustrophobia and anxiety with crowds is a "me" problem, if you are thinking that paying a bit extra for this first entry tour will ensure you avoid some of the crowds while visiting the Vatican, that is not a guarantee.
