Don your apron and grab a rolling pin as you are welcomed into an authentic working Roman kitchen by your friendly instructor – an expert Pizzaiolo (pizza chef) for this fun, interactive, and totally hands-on Pizza making class!
Throughout this three-hour workshop you will be treated to complimentary drinks, delicious samples of three different mozzarella cheeses, and several specialty slices of pizza, made especially for you by your Pizzaiolo. You will learn about the alchemy of dough-making with flour and water, and the science behind the yeast process.
So much more than just a demonstration, you will be making, kneading and rolling your own dough, mixing up your own toppings and later learning how to slide it professionally into a flaming hot, traditional wood-fired pizza oven. The class takes place in the working kitchen of a local Roman pizzeria for a truly authentic experience.
Your Pizzaiolo will regale you with the fascinating history of pizza making in Italy, its evolution over the centuries with the arrival of the tomato from the New World, and the introduction of cheesy dough. All this while you’ll be picking out, chopping up, stirring, and mixing your choice of the freshest, sun-kissed Italian ingredients to create your sauces and toppings for your own handmade pizza.
When ready, you will learn how to slide the raw pizza into the oven, let it cook for a minute or two, then sit down to eat and enjoy! For a sweet surprise, you’ll finish with a unique “dessert pizza” made by your chef and instructor. You’ll also receive a diploma and a recipe book as a useful and memorable souvenir of your experience, so you can keep up your pizza-making skills at home.
Buon appetito!
