Enjoy this expertly guided tour of Michelangelo’s iconic statue David and the Accademia Gallery. Your small group of no more than six people will be among the very first to view this breathtakingly beautiful collection, without the crowds of daytime visitors.

You will have the opportunity to experience the stunning David in all his glory, sculpted over 500 years ago by a 26-year-old Michelangelo Buonarotti. Sculpted from just one, huge piece of Carrara marble, Michelangelo famously said “I saw the angel in the marble and set him free.”

Your guide will also share with you some of the other highlights of the Accademia including the Hall of Prisoners, where you’ll see the unfinished torsos by Michelangelo. You will also see the emotive statue The Abduction of a Sabine Woman by Giambologna as well as the magnificently opulent late medieval golden altarpiece by Jacopo di Cione, The Coronation of the Virgin.

The tour lasts for one hour so you’ll exit the Accademia in time for breakfast and delicious Florentine cappuccino.

Accademia Museum Access and Visitor Regulations

Entry Rules

  • For security reasons, all visitors are subject to screening via metal detector.
  • The Gallery does not provide a cloakroom service. Therefore, luggage, large backpacks, helmets, or any bulky item exceeding 40 x 30 x 18 cm are not permitted.
  • Mobile phones must be switched off or set to silent mode.

The Following Are Prohibited Inside the Gallery

  • Smoking (including e-cigarettes/vapes).
  • Taking photographs using flash, selfie sticks, tripods, or bulky equipment.
  • Bringing beverages of any kind (including cans and glass bottles), except plastic bottles of water up to 0.5 liters.
  • Bringing knives, metal tools, firearms, weapons, or hazardous materials (including visitors legally licensed to carry weapons).
  • Wearing clothing deemed inappropriate for the setting (e.g., swimsuits, revealing attire), walking barefoot, or being shirtless.

  • Masterpiece of Michelangelo

    This was a definite highlight of our trip. Getting up early and getting in to see David with pretty much the room to ourselves was amazing and an experience we will not forget. Babi, our tour guide, was the best and told us just to follow her quickly once we got through security ad she led us straight to David. While we looked in awe she took time to point out lots of details and gave great background on the famous statue. We got to spend about 15 mins in a very uncrowded room with her and then worked our way back to the other works. Babi really made the morning special and I have told others to book this and ask for her. Being able to see David without the big crowds was incredible.
