Named for the marshland it was originally built on, Le Marais was once the headquarters of the infamous Knights Templar. Today it is one of Paris’s most elegant, multi-ethnic, and trendy neighborhoods—all of which is reflected in its international cuisine.
Your tour meets in the very heart of Le Marais and begins at a charming patisserie, famous for its elaborate decor, where you will sample a classic French pastry: the croissant! Having finished this morning bite, you will meander through characteristic streets, learning the neighborhood’s history, ultimately arriving to a mouth-watering tasting of traditional French cheeses and freshly baked baguette, with a delicious glass of wine.
Afterwards, your guide will show you the vibrant Rue des Rosiers, rich with Jewish history. The street has many kosher food shops, stalls, and restaurants lining it and continues to this very day to carry on the Jewish traditions rooted there.
