On your LivTours’ Rome in a Day exclusive experience, your private driver will meet you directly at the dock holding a sign with your name on it. From there you will travel in the comfort of a luxury car on Italian’s modern freeways to access the city’s center.
First up, you’ll enjoy a privileged Colosseum experience with access to the restricted Arena Floor. You’ll walk in the footsteps of ancient warriors and learn all about gladiators and the events that unfolded within its walls. After, you will explore the ancient wonders of the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill to learn about Julius Caesar and his dynasty, and the rise and fall of the Roman Empire.
Your private tour continues in the historic city center, where you will discover highlights that include the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and breathtaking Piazza Navona: filled with Baroque fountains and old palaces. You will experience Rome like a local as you walk through cobblestone alleyways before sitting down to enjoy lunch (not included in the price). If you are a coffee lover, your guide will show you where to get one of the best espressos in town.
After lunch, it is off to another country: Vatican City. Your all-inclusive tour includes priority access to the Vatican Museums. Experience the grandiose halls and explore the Gallery of Maps, Gallery of Tapestries, the Raphael Rooms, and of course, the Sistine Chapel. The Vatican Museums encompass nearly 8,000 square feet of artworks: having a private guide to steer you and share tidbits will is invaluable. Your time with your guide ends in the world’s largest Catholic church: St. Peter’s Basilica. Here you will admire two other stunning works by Michelangelo.
Your chauffeur will be waiting for you when you exit St Peter’s Basilica to take you back to your cruise ship at Civitavecchia.
