Vienna is famous for its imperial past, majestic squares, lively atmosphere and of course its traditional cuisine—all of which you will experience on this engagingly delicious private food tour! You’ll walk Vienna’s picturesque streets and squares and stop off at several restaurants and food stalls. You’ll not only learn the history of the city, but also the evolution of its cuisine, through direct experience! By the end of this 3 hour tour you’ll have had the equivalent of a delicious five-course meal with local beers and wines included.

Your expert, fluent English-speaking private guide will meet you at Saint Michael’s Square (Michaelerplatz) a famous star-shaped intersection lined with baroque buildings and streets leading out to the thrumming heart of downtown Vienna. Make sure you arrive hungry!

Your first stop will be to try a traditional Viennese snack, a ham bun with the local sparkling apple juice to wash it down. A popular street food / lunch time snack with the Austrians.

Next you’ll wander out of Michaelerplatz, through the streets and alleys, and arrive at a historic artisanal chocolatier… this quaint and quirky little shop was founded in 1928 and produces exquisite confections. Time to indulge in their delicious chocolate, and enjoy the rather magical atmosphere!

No food tour in Vienna would be complete without a delicious sausage tasting, accompanied by a traditional beer! Your guide will take you to one of the best outdoor bratwurst stands in the city to try a juicy bratty with a refreshing beer to wash it down.

Afterwards take a wander down to Neuer Markt – one of the prettiest little squares in Vienna and enjoy a relaxing sit down at a specially chosen traditional restaurant for a classic Austrian dish: Wiener Schnitzel. This literally means Viennese meat cutlet, it is made of a breaded pan fried veal cutlet and is served with a slice of lemon and a delicious glass of wine. It is one of the national dishes of Austria.

Lastly, your guide will show you to an upmarket, historic institution in Vienna that used to provide the cakes and confectionery to the Imperial Palace, and now supplies such venerated institutions as the Vienna State Opera and Music Society. With over 175 years of history, this is both a spectacular and delicious place to end your tour with the traditional Cafe and Kuchen – coffee and cake.
