Your LivTours Private Accademia and Uffizi Tour will start near the Uffizi Gallery – the former offices of the Medici Family. It seems only fitting that the museum with the largest Renaissance art collection started in the Renaissance, but without ever intending to be a museum! It was in 1559 when the Grand Duke of Florence, part of the infamous Medici Family, commissioned a Florentine architect to design a building for local government offices and he did just that. No one knew that by 1765 the public would be admiring this once-private art collection that decorated the offices (Uffizi in Italian) commissioned by the Medici Family. By 1865 the Uffizi Gallery was allowing visitors to enjoy one of the most world-renowned art collections which consists of masterpieces by the likes of Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and nameless others.

You will enjoy exclusive LivTours access to the Uffizi Gallery, where your expert private guide will show you masterpieces such as The Birth of Venus, one of the iconic Renaissance depictions of the mythological goddess as she emerges from the sea on a shell. You will also see Michelangelo’s Doni Tondo, the result of a commission from a prominent Tuscan family, showing a portrait of the Holy Family with the Virgin Mary at the forefront. Michelangelo’s only painting in Florence.

After you have visited the Uffizi Gallery, it is a short walk to the Galleria dell’Accademia where you will, once again, enjoy exclusive LivTours access.  Now home to Michelangelo’s David, this building housing the Accademia was once a convent, but was converted by Pietro Leopoldo into a studio and museum space for the Accademia delle Belle Arti (Academy of Fine Arts) students; providing a place to study, but also a place to admire the greatest artworks of the past. Nowadays, the Accademia carries the reputation of being the second most visited Museum in Tuscany with the sculpture of Micelangelo’s David at the center of its crown of jewels.

  • Fantastic private tour of Uffizi

We very much enjoyed our experience touring the Uffizi with Barbara. She met us on the piazza outside which made it very easy to locate her so we did not have to find her through the crowds. She know so much information about the history of Florence, the Medici family, and the artists. She also did an amazing job at navigating the crowds with grace to ensure that we were able to have good views of all the exhibits. Hers was by far the best tour we went on during our week in Florence.

  • Florence Art Experience

We had the most amazing day with Raffaela. We did the private tour pf the Accademia and the Uffizi. Raffaela was an awesome tour guide - knew so much information about the galleries and the art. She went at a very good pace, kept our family interested and navigated us well through all the crowds. Raffaela is both an artist and art historian, so we could not have asked for anyone better to lead us. She was also helpful when we had an issue with our passports. She relived our stress and made the day an adventure. I have already referred Raffaela and Liv Tours to everyone I know that is traveling to Florence soon!

  • Just awesome

We are SO glad we booked this tour. The artwork and statues that we saw were so much more meaningful and memorable thanks to our guide, Clara, and all the insight and interesting facts that she shared with us. The Uffizi is a treasure chest of famous works and the Accademia, where Michaelangelo's David and some of his other statues are, are both places that you'll want to be sure to see when you are Florence. Take it from us: book this tour and you'll really have an incredible "art experience"!

  • A wonderful day of Art in Florence

We had a great tour in Florence. Our day began with our Livitaly guide Sara who took us inside the Uffizi Gallery. I have been to the Uffizi twice before and was only going because my partner had never been there. But I have never had anyone so knowledgeable and passionate tell me what we were looking at and walking us through the timelines of the art and the artists. It turned out to be an amazing day and my partner was actually moved to tears by several of the paintings. Our guide Sara really brought it to life for us. It was just the three of us and we spent the whole morning there. Then we met a different guide, Silvia, after lunch who took us on a walking tour which included the square outside the Uffizi, Pontevechio Bridge, the Duomo and Bapistry, and concluded with a visit to the Acadamia to see the statue of David along with many other works of art. Silvia really helped us to understand the history and to better appreciate the things we were seeing. One of many great Livitaly tours we booked.
