We had no idea what to make of a tour of Castel Sant'Angelo. Wow, were we thrilled with the experience, and our guide, Priscilla, is a blast! Priscilla has such a great sense of humor and is so enaging, our time with her seemed to pass in a blink! Our interest in visiting the castle really rose earlier in the week when another LivTours guide on our walking tour of the city, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona, told us how amazing Castel Sant'Angelo is and what occurs as you work your way up from the bottom to the top. It exceeded every expectation we had, even after hearing all about it from our other guide earlier in the week. As prominent a monument as it is, Castel Sant'Angelo is really a hidden gem that is somehow overlooked by visitors to Rome. Do not think twice about it. Fantastic experience

We have been to Rome many times but never had time to visit Castel Sant Angelo. What an overlook! Thomas our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Castel. It was fascinating. But the highlight of the tour and in fact Rome was the Belvedere Terrace! Absolutely breathtaking view of Rome!

Great tour/great guide

Castel Sant' Angelo was a Rome site my wife and I had wanted to see for years. We decided on a private tour. Marco, our guide, was excellent! His having experience in architecture was great for me and his knowledge of history and art for my wife. Nice thing about a private tour is it is tailored to the person(s) interest. Marco navigated both of our interests with ease. Well worth the little bit extra for the private tour.

One of the Best Tours in Rome

We booked several LivTours experiences in Rome, and this one was among our favorites. The castle combines military, religious, and imperial history in one setting. Ending with that panoramic view was the perfect finale.

Breathtaking Terrace Views

The Belvedere Terrace was the highlight for me. Seeing the whole of Rome stretch out beneath Archangel Michael’s statue was magical. I’m glad we had a guide to point out the landmarks in the skyline.

Elena told us stories that connected the castle to art, music, and even modern novels. Hearing about Puccini’s Tosca while standing in the courtyard where it was set gave me goosebumps. This was not just a history tour—it was cultural immersion.
