Tour Guide is Mandatory

This was the second Liv family tour we did, other was Colosseum, and I don't think it was worth booking it special for families. From the get go she looked at our kids and basically said, welp we won't get to much and kind of went through the motions. The crowds and process to get in don't really lend itself to a kid friendly tour. There is a lot of crowding around and waiting in line, even with passes, to be able to do the kid activities to keep them engaged. The kids also couldn't use the adult headsets, which are necessary to hear the guide since it's very echoey and there's a million other guides talking. Our guide was also just not very engaging and had a thicker accent making it hard to understand compared to the very animated kid friendly UK guide we had for the Colosseum who made it all about them. The tour says 2.5hours, but it was more like 1.5 of actual tour since it takes a lot of waiting to get in, get headsets multiple times, and then left 15min early. She seemed to not have a plan once inside St. Peters and I could feel she was ready to be done. She left us early so we could do what we wanted, but I expected to get more options or suggestions since we could always do our own thing after the tour ended. She also only prompted us for one picture the whole time next to a garbage can that I thought was odd and found later it was clearly a check mark for the company since they sent it to us afterward. Our other guide was constantly finding the best spots and took amazing family pics, managing tourists out of the way on our behalf, since that is a big part of why we are there. I would definitely recommend a private tour with kids to get into everywhere swiftly, just don't bother with the family tour upsell for the Vatican or hope for a more family friendly guide.

Wonderful experience - highly recommend!

We had SUCH a wonderful experience on our private tour with Rebecca! She was terrific with our kids (ages 4 and 8) and adjusting to their and our family's needs. We were so happy with everything we saw and enjoyed every moment of it. We would highly recommend LivTours and will definitely be back when we're traveling in cities they serve!

Definitely the way to do it!

Our Vatican tour with Caterina P. was a highlight of our visit to Rome. Even in the "off season" it was fairly crowded navigating the museum, and I'm so glad we had Caterina with us to shepherd us through so we could just enjoy ourselves and not worry about navigating or logistics. Caterina was very informative and knowledgable, and we enjoyed sharing our afternoon with her. She took us to see the carriages/cars of the popes which my 11 year old who loves horses was obsessed with, and all of the adults found super interesting as well. My friend who was with us and had been to the Vatican Museums before mentioned that we saw a lot of things he had never seen before and that you would likely miss if you went on your own. All in all a great tour - highly recommend!

Family tour at the Vatican

We had a great time on the tour. We were a challenging group because we had a big day the day prior and the children were tired but Michela did a fantastic job of trying to engage them. She was a wonderful guide and we would highly recommend.

Wonderful company

Thank you very much for your wonderful company. We posted 5 star reviews on TripAdvisor but I did want to express directly to you how much my family and I enjoyed and appreciated the tour that Livia gave us of the Vatican. She was a knowledgeable and kind guide. Her tour was a highlight of our visit to Rome.

Great family tour

We very much enjoyed our tour at the Vatican with Raf - she was friendly, informative and patient as we sometimes dawdled through the wonders of the Vatican, trying to soak up everything! It was an added bonus for the kids to get some materials to take home to remind them of their visit. It was also great to see some parts of the Vatican that were 'just for us’ as LivTours participants. Thanks LivTour team for an unforgettable experience!

Best part of the trip!

Our two kids, 7 and 9, say this Vatican tour has been the best part of their Rome trip. Alex was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and always kept the kids engaged with interesting facts, games and answering their questions. Five stars!

Davide rocks!

Boy are we glad we booked this tour! The kids would have been bored and cranky with all the miles to walk and artwork that goes a bit over their heads. But with LivTour's Davide, he had them eating out of his hand for the entire tour! They were excited to take part in his treasure hunts, "where's wally"-kind of games, questions that were really stimulating for them and that provoked them to really use their imaginations. They chattered about how much fun they had and how much they had learned throughout dinner that night. This was money extremely well spent!!

Vatican with 10 year olds

The meeting point was easy. And our guild was very knowledgeable and happy to be guiding us around. I would highly recommend Raf. She was great at engaging our two 10 year old kids, asking them questions and answering ALL of theirs (no easy feat). She took and sent us a great family photo, which made our experience that much more memorable. Wonderful experience for all of us!

We were very pleased

My family and I spent a wonderful morning with Davide, our Livitaly tour guide, exploring the Vatican, including the Sistine Chapel and St. Peters Basilica. He had an incredible depth of knowledge and shared it in an engaging and pleasant way. He really connected with the kids and was able to impart the information in a way that made it fun and easy to digest. He navigated the crowds with skill and a very pleasant demeanor.
