Brilliant Insight into Catania’s Identity
This tour helped me understand how much the city’s character has been shaped by Etna’s eruptions. Seeing a faint plume above the volcano during the walk added excitement. The stop at Chiesa di San Benedetto was my favorite for its carved details and serene interior.
- Sabrina JohnsonGreat Mix of Ancient, Baroque, and Modern Life
Catania’s contrasts are remarkable, and LivTours showcased them beautifully. From the ornate Chiesa di San Benedetto to the boisterous Fish Market, every stop felt meaningful. I especially liked learning about the Festival of St. Agatha and how the traditions persist today.
- Joshua H.Wonderful Private Tour with a Local Touch
Our guide, Chiara, gave us a true insider’s feel for the city. She talked about Bellini with such affection that we ended up listening to his operas that evening. Ursino Castle was a highlight—especially hearing how the coastline used to be right at its doorstep.
- Brigitte LangFascinating History and a Great Pace
This tour was exactly what we needed on our first morning in Catania. Marco showed us details at the Teatro Romano that we would have walked right past on our own. The stroll along Via dei Crociferi was gorgeous, especially with his explanations of the monastic life that shaped the street.
- JamesA Great Start to Our Sicily Trip
This was our first activity in Sicily, and it set the tone perfectly. I particularly enjoyed exploring the Roman Theater and imagining the crowds of ancient spectators. The walk was easy and informative, and the private format gave us flexibility.
- Sandra P.Great introduction to Sicily
We thought this tour was very comprehensive and a great introduction to this Sicilian city. Our local guide was full of information about the history of the city, the importance of its position on the sea, the famous artists and musicians that came here and the delicious traditional cuisine...which we had ample opportunity to try! A tour we will definitely recommend to our friends and family!
- Lou RossiEngaging, Informative, and Beautifully Led
Marco was enthusiastic from start to finish, especially when discussing Bellini’s legacy. The walk along Via dei Crociferi was my favorite stretch thanks to its quiet beauty and layered architectural history. I left the tour with a much richer understanding of Catania.
- Ana SouzaA Morning Well Spent
We did this tour first thing in the morning, which meant we caught the Fish Market at its liveliest. The smells, shouts, and fresh produce created such an authentic moment. Our guide tied it all back to centuries-old trading traditions, which was impressive.
- Daniel KimballA Thoughtful Tour for Culture Lovers
As a musician, I really appreciated the attention given to Vincenzo Bellini’s life and influence. Seeing his tomb in the cathedral was a personal highlight. LivTours did an excellent job weaving together history, architecture, and culture.
- Robert W.Catania’s History Comes Alive
The city’s layers of destruction and rebuilding fascinated me, and our guide pointed out scars left by eruptions and earthquakes that I never would have noticed. Walking Via Etnea with the smell of roasted chestnuts in the air felt magical. Highly recommended.
