A Day Steeped in Beauty and History
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. Our driver, Marco, was both professional and personable, sharing stories about the countryside as we drove. Orvieto’s Duomo left me absolutely speechless—photographs don’t do it justice. Lunch with truffles and local wine was divine, and Civita di Bagnoregio felt like stepping into a painting. I cannot recommend this tour enough.
- Emily JohnsonPerfect for Families
We traveled with our two teenagers, and they actually loved this tour. The underground Etruscan tunnels in Orvieto were fascinating, and our guide Davide made history come alive with fun anecdotes. The walk across the bridge into Civita was a bit of a trek, but my kids thought it was “epic.” Lunch at the osteria was hearty and very kid-friendly too.
- Michael SandersA Memorable Private Day Trip
I wanted a quiet escape from Rome, and this was exactly what I needed. The drive through Lazio and Umbria was peaceful, and Orvieto itself was a revelation—especially the mosaics on the cathedral. The ceramics shops were irresistible, and I brought home a hand-painted pitcher. Civita di Bagnoregio at sunset was simply magical.
- Anna ClarkeFood, Wine, and Stunning Villages
My wife and I love food tours, and this one combined gastronomy with history perfectly. Our guide, Giulia, explained how the underground caves were used in different eras, which was fascinating. The lunch featured local cheeses, salumi, and an Orvieto Classico that paired beautifully. Ending in Civita di Bagnoregio was the perfect finale.
- Robert MillerA Photographer’s Dream
As an amateur photographer, I was blown away by the scenery. The footbridge to Civita di Bagnoregio provided some of my favorite shots from the whole trip. The driver, Luca, knew the best viewpoints along the way and even stopped so I could take pictures of the vineyards. Orvieto’s cathedral interior was another breathtaking highlight.
- Daniel WongAn Italian Gem
I had never heard of Civita di Bagnoregio before this tour, and now I consider it a must-see in Italy. The scenery was jaw-dropping, and the town itself felt frozen in time. Orvieto impressed me just as much, especially the intricate façade of the cathedral. Everything about the day was perfectly arranged by LivTours.
- Stefan MüllerTruly Unforgettable Experience
We were traveling as grandparents with our adult children, and this private tour suited us perfectly. Giulia, our guide, was patient and knowledgeable, tailoring the pace to our group. The history of Orvieto’s underground was mind-blowing, and lunch was one of the best meals of our trip. Walking into Civita with my grandchildren’s hands in mine is a memory I’ll always treasure.
- Patricia ReynoldsWonderful Day Away from the City
This was a perfect break from Rome’s crowds. Our driver pointed out interesting sights along the way, and we learned a lot about Umbria. The colorful ceramics shops in Orvieto were a pleasant surprise, and I bought a few small gifts. Civita di Bagnoregio felt otherworldly, perched above the canyon. LivTours made everything smooth and enjoyable.
- Christopher HayesTraveling Back in Time
Orvieto and Civita felt like a journey into another century. My husband and I were especially impressed by the frescoes inside the Duomo, which our guide Chiara explained in such detail. Lunch at the countryside osteria was simple but delicious, and the local wine was exceptional. Crossing the bridge to Civita was the most unforgettable moment of the day.
- Margaret O’DonnellSeamless and Relaxing
What I appreciated most was how stress-free this tour felt. Pickup at our hotel was smooth, and Marco, our chauffeur, made the journey comfortable and enjoyable. We didn’t feel rushed at all in Orvieto, and exploring the underground tunnels was fascinating. Civita was quiet and peaceful, exactly what we hoped for after busy days in Rome.
