A Beautiful Blend of History and Daily Life

I loved how this tour balanced Modena’s grand monuments with its local culture. Our guide, Giulia, had an effortless way of explaining the Duomo’s Romanesque details while keeping us engaged with anecdotes about the Este family. Walking through Novi Sad Park and seeing the ancient Roman road was a fascinating surprise. We ended at the Albinelli Market, where Giulia pointed out her favorite balsamic producers.

Superb Private Tour for Architecture Lovers

Modena’s architecture truly came alive thanks to our guide, Marco, who clearly has a passion for his city. The Ghirlandina bell tower was even more impressive in person, and I appreciated learning how its “little garland” railings got their nickname. The walk through Piazza Grande felt like stepping through centuries of history. A wonderful introduction to Modena.

Perfect Morning Walk With Teens

Traveling with two teenagers can be a challenge, but this LivTours experience kept all of us interested. The kids loved spotting the Ferrari memorabilia around town after hearing stories about young Enzo Ferrari. I personally enjoyed the quieter moment inside Santa Maria della Pomposa, especially seeing Muratori’s tomb. The market stop at the end was a great way to pick up snacks before lunch.

Deeply Informative and Pleasant

This tour exceeded my expectations. Elena was full of knowledge and had a gentle way of guiding us through Modena’s medieval center, pointing out details we’d never have noticed on our own. Walking the ancient Roman cobblestones in Novi Sad Park was a highlight that felt genuinely special. Highly recommend for anyone who wants more than a surface-level visit.

A Wonderful Food & Culture Experience

Though the tour covers major historical landmarks, what I loved most was the atmosphere at the Albinelli Markets. Our guide helped us chat with a local cheesemonger who gave us a small taste of fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano—such a treat! The contrast between the Baroque Ducal Palace and the lively market really shows Modena’s personality.

Fantastic Solo Traveler Experience

As a solo traveler, I appreciated how personalized this private tour felt. Davide tailored his explanations to my interests in archaeology and pointed out layers of Roman, medieval, and Renaissance history throughout the city. The Piazza Grande’s UNESCO designation made perfect sense once we stood at the center and took it all in. A peaceful, enriching way to discover Modena.

Great Tour for First-Time Visitors

This was our first time in Modena, and the LivTours walk helped us understand the layout and character of the city instantly. The Duomo’s façade, with all its carved animals and biblical scenes, was more detailed than any photos we’d seen. We especially liked learning about the history of the Town Hall and its large clock tower. Perfect introduction to the city.

A Highlight of Our Northern Italy Trip

We visited Modena for the food, but this walking tour made us appreciate its culture just as much. Chiara explained the symbolism of the lion statues at the cathedral entrance in a way that even our 9-year-old could understand. The stroll down Corso Canal Grande gave us a real sense of local life, with families biking and chatting beneath the porticoes. We left with great restaurant recommendations, too.

Charming, Well-Paced, and Educational

My husband and I enjoyed the gentle pace of this private tour. The story of Muratori and his contributions to Italian historical studies was unexpectedly fascinating. Seeing the Ducal Palace up close was impressive, but the quiet corners—like the shaded porticoes—gave Modena an intimate charm. A very well-organized experience from LivTours.
